Five men wake up in a chemical warehouse with no memory of who they are
or how they got there. They are forced to figure out who is good and
who is bad to stay alive. The film is told in reverse ala Memento. The cover above bears no relation to the film. Nothing is set out like that.
Why had I not heard of this movie? Why was it buried and ... unknown? This is a kick-ass fucking movie. 5 men wake up in a warehouse, all are suffering from memory loss. One is tied to a chair and another in hanging handcuffed from a railing above.
Jacket man (Jim Caviezel) is the first to awaken to a ringing telephone, he wanders around discovers the high-tech secure, password locked door (it is the only way out). The phone rings again and this time he answers it and learns people are coming back in a couple of hours. Eventually everyone wakes up and even though they don't trust one another they have to work together if they are to come out of this alive.
This is a very awesome movie with a twist at the end that is brilliant. When the movie started I thought Matthew Waynee had written a film based on Saw. It had the same gritty feel to it. The acting was above par and the mystery added to the suspense.
Their memories filter back slowly throughout the film and we learn the past of the characters but it is really Jim Caviezel's character who is complex and hard to understand.
This movie deserved more fanfare. On another review, I read that the bullshit of Borat hid the movie from the public. This is a DVD to buy and watch again and again, especially if you are writing a movie script or thinking about it.
The execution of this movie was smooth and the 98 minutes just vanished.
Well worth a Sunday sit down with fish and chips!
