Minutes to Midnight -- Linkin Park (review) 150px-Linkinparklogo2

A lot of hype of this CD, so I bought it as I like Linkin Park's
Meteora (especially Numb and Numb version with Jay something). I've
heard the critics hated it and yet is a worldwide smash hit, number one in every country that sells CDs. Well, can't argue with the voice of the people and sales receipts.

I liked this CD from the start. I've listened to it more than 20 or 30 times, it's all I listened to this Sunday. It rocks. All the song except the last are fantastic. I am expecting the radio stations to pick up and play more of Linkin Park's music.

Here's a list of the songs:

1. Wake
2. Given Up
3. Leave out all the rest
4. Bleed it out
5. Shadow of the day
6. What I've done
7. Hands held high
8. No more Sorrow
9. Valentine's Day
10. In Between
11. In Pieces
12. The little things you give away

Song 12 is the only song that lets this album down. The lyrics are good:

water grey
through the windows
up the stairs
chilling rain
like an ocean
everywhere

The lyrics don't let it down. It just doesn't sound good.

But there's still the rest of the fucking album!!!

The 20 page booklet tells a bit about the band and creating this CD. They wrote over 100 songs to find the 12 that made up this album. They wanted to create something that was a reflection of the bands personality.

The tracks I instantly felt and enjoyed:

Wake: The first song is a melody only.
Given up: has a nice hard punch to it (I'm my own worst enemy)
Leave out all the Best: Awesome. A mix of rock and melody. (When my time comes, forget the wrong that I've done)
Bleed it out: Welcome back to the rap/rock that made them famous.
What I've done: The worldwide hit that gets too much airtime but always good to hear it. The lyrics punch right to the heart.
Hands Held High: Very fucking interesting.
In Between: Excellent -- just excellent.
In Pieces: The lyrics baby, the lyrics

Buy this CD. You won't regret it.

In NZ, go to The Warehouse and grad a copy for only $22.95.
